Originally built in the 1850’s, The South End Hotel was purchased by the Giannitto family in 2000, fully renovated leaving the charm of the original façade and renamed the Southern Hotel.
We pride ourselves on food made fresh from our family to yours where our menu offers pub favourites and contemporary dishes. We can’t wait to welcome you to be part of our proud family.
The Giannitto family name has been synonymous with Gawler hotels since 1971 and the excellent quality food, great service and clean family environment for which patrons have come to expect over many years.
With the success of the Gawler Arms Hotel being talked about far and wide the Giannitto family purchased the South End Hotel in the year 2000 and after major renovations, the 150 year old building was drastically transformed and reopened as the ‘Southern Hotel’ in October 2001.
Further renovations in 2009 continued with the endeavour to attract families with young children. The hotel’s transformation of the front bar / dining bistro area into a fully indoor and enclosed kids play area included a joining dining bistro area. There was clearly a need for an eating place in the local area that openly welcomed children and families with young ones, to enjoy a delicious and healthy meal whilst knowing that the children could be happy and entertained too. The popularity of this play area continues to grow and proves to be yet another successful concept by the Giannitto Family.
