Offers daycare, before and after school care, holiday care, and 24-hour care
The Castlemaine Childcare Co-operative, also known as “Carinya” which is the name of the building where our long day care centre is located, has a long history of service to the Castlemaine community. We have been operating since 1982 and many of our current parents came to the centre as children themselves.
Our long day care centre caters for 60 children a day, with about 150 families accessing the service over a week. Most of our parents are working or studying, but many families bring children in for socialisation and the chance to learn in a group situation. We also operate a Family Day Care scheme and children learn and are cared for in a small group situation in a home environment. Some children access both services on different days of the week.
We are a not-for-profit community co-operative situated in the heart of Castlemaine in Central Victoria. We operate a 60-place long day care centre for children between the ages of six weeks and five years of age, including a full kinder and pre-kinder program. We also operate and manage Carinya Family Day Care scheme; a network of educators who provide programs for under school age in their own homes and school-age children in schools.
Our Family Day Care scheme offers daycare, before and after school care, holiday care, and 24-hour care. Castlemaine Childcare Co-operative has been providing accredited, quality child care since our centre was founded by a group of parents in 1979. The Co-operative continues to be governed by a Committee of Management of elected parents who are shareholders. We aim to give children the best possible experience of childhood in an environment where they feel safe, stimulated and encouraged to develop their individual strengths.
